Warranty & Return Tracker Mobile App

Reclaim is a mobile application designed to help users manage purchase receipts, track return windows and warranty periods, and simplify the process of creating return or warranty claims.

The product addresses a common behavioral problem: users rarely organize receipts after making purchases and often discover that return or warranty deadlines have expired when they need them most. As a result, they lose money, spend unnecessary time searching for documentation, and experience friction during return or claim processes.

As the sole Product Designer and Product Owner, I led the end-to-end product definition and design process, including product strategy, user experience, feature prioritization, interaction design, AI-assisted workflow design, usability validation, and launch preparation. In addition to the mobile application, I designed and structured the promotional landing page to support acquisition and product positioning.

Product Goals

The primary goal was to create a lightweight, intuitive system that would help users retain control over purchase-related information without requiring manual organization or ongoing maintenance.

The product objectives were:

  • Reduce the effort required to store and manage purchase records.
  • Eliminate the risk of missing return and warranty deadlines.
  • Simplify access to purchase documentation when needed.
  • Create a frictionless onboarding experience that delivers value immediately.
  • Leverage AI capabilities to automate repetitive tasks while maintaining reliability and user control.

A key product principle throughout development was balancing automation with transparency. Users should benefit from AI-driven convenience without losing confidence in the accuracy of their data.

Product Discovery & Problem Definition

During the discovery phase, I focused on identifying the most painful moments in the post-purchase journey.

Several recurring user challenges emerged:

  • Receipts are stored across multiple channels, including email, paper copies, PDFs, and screenshots.
  • Users rarely remember exact warranty or return deadlines.
  • Finding proof of purchase becomes difficult when a product issue occurs.
  • Existing expense-management tools are often too complex for users who simply want to track purchases and warranties.

This led to a clear product opportunity: create a focused solution dedicated to purchase lifecycle management rather than broader financial tracking.

Key Features

  1. AI-Powered Purchase Data Extraction
Designed an AI-assisted workflow that allows users to scan receipts or upload invoices and automatically extract key purchase information, including merchant details, purchase date, warranty period, and return deadlines. This significantly reduces manual data entry and lowers onboarding friction.
  2. Information Architecture & Purchase Organization
Introduced a category-based organizational structure to help users quickly locate purchases without navigating long chronological lists. The solution improves discoverability, scalability, and long-term usability as users accumulate more purchase records.
  3. Warranty & Return Deadline Tracking
Designed an automated tracking system that monitors return windows and warranty periods for every purchase. Users receive timely reminders before important deadlines, reducing the risk of missed returns or warranty claims.
  4. AI-Assisted Claim Generation
Created a workflow that helps users generate return and warranty claim documents using stored purchase data. This simplifies post-purchase processes and reduces the effort required when issues with products arise.
  5. Flexible Data Management
Designed editable purchase records and manual entry flows to ensure users can easily update information, correct extraction errors, or add purchases that cannot be processed automatically.

Outcome

Reclaim successfully progressed from concept to a publicly available product within four weeks.

The project demonstrated how AI can significantly accelerate product development cycles when combined with strong product thinking, clear ownership, and focused execution.

For me, the most valuable outcome was validating a modern product workflow in which AI accelerates research, exploration, implementation, and iteration, while strategic product decisions remain guided by human understanding of user needs, business goals, and experience quality.

The result is a practical consumer product that helps users manage purchases, avoid missed warranty and return deadlines, and reduce the effort associated with post-purchase administration.
